The Heavens Declare.
"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." Psalm 19:1
I'm Daniel Wood Jr., a photographer in Wilmington, North Carolina. I'm usually out before sunrise or after the crowds go home, waiting for the moment the sky opens up: blue hour at the pier, storm light over the jetty, the moon laying a silver road across the Atlantic.
I named my studio Firmament Light because that's what I'm chasing, the light God put in the sky. My job is to be there with the camera when it shows up, and to bring it home for your walls.
How I work
I shoot with a Nikon full-frame camera, edit every image myself, and send my prints to a professional photo lab. Every print comes back to me first. I look it over by hand, sign it, and pack it myself. If it isn't right, it doesn't ship.
Portraits and commissions
I also photograph families, couples, and individuals in the same coastal light, and I take commissions for homes and businesses.
Thank you for being here. If a photograph here stops you for a second, that's exactly what I hoped for.
